Submissions

Author Guidelines

Albuchuts publishes scholarly works in the fields of Arabic language, literature, and culture. Manuscripts must fall within the journal’s stated Focus and Scope.

The journal accepts Research Articles and Review Articles written in English, Arabic, or Indonesian.

Manuscript Length

Manuscripts should normally contain 5,000–8,000 words, excluding the reference list.

Longer manuscripts may be considered when justified by the nature of the research, data, or analytical discussion.

Manuscript Structure

Research articles should generally include:

1. Title
2. Abstract
3. Keywords
4. Introduction
5. Research Method
6. Results and Discussion
7. Conclusion
8. Declarations, where applicable
9. Acknowledgements, where applicable
10. References

The internal structure may be adapted when another organization is more appropriate for literary, linguistic, translation, or cultural research.

Title

The title should be concise, informative, and accurately reflect the subject of the article.

All submissions must provide an English title, including manuscripts written in Arabic or Indonesian.

Abstract

The abstract should contain 150–250 words and briefly present:

• the research purpose or problem;
• theoretical or methodological approach;
• principal findings;
• main conclusion or scholarly contribution.

An English abstract is mandatory for all manuscripts. Articles written in Arabic or Indonesian should also provide an abstract in the language of the manuscript.

Keywords

Authors should provide 3–5 keywords or key phrases.

For manuscripts written in Arabic or Indonesian, keywords must also be provided in English.

Citation and Reference Style

Albuchuts uses APA Style, 7th Edition.

Authors must ensure that:

• every source cited in the manuscript appears in the reference list;
• every source listed in the references is cited in the manuscript where relevant;
• bibliographic information is accurate;
• DOI links are included whenever available.

Authors are encouraged to use reference-management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.

Arabic Text and Transliteration

Arabic script must be reproduced accurately.

Where transliteration is required, authors should apply a recognized transliteration system consistently throughout the manuscript.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of Arabic text, transliteration, and translation.

Tables, Figures, and Illustrations

Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and referred to in the text.

Each table or figure should include a clear caption and source where applicable.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material.

Originality and Similarity Screening

Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not simultaneously under consideration by another journal.

All manuscripts undergo similarity screening.

The journal applies the following thresholds:

• maximum overall similarity: 20%;
• maximum similarity from any single source: 2%.

Similarity scores are screening indicators. Editors may also consider the type, location, and context of detected similarities.

Peer Review

Albuchuts applies a double-blind peer-review system.

Manuscripts that pass editorial screening are normally reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise.

Authors must therefore remove information that could reveal their identity from the anonymized manuscript.

Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, interviews, questionnaires, communities, personal data, or other forms of human-subject research must comply with applicable ethical standards.

Where required, authors should provide information regarding:

• ethical approval;
• informed consent;
• participant privacy and confidentiality.

Authorship and Contributions

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a substantive scholarly contribution to the work.

For multi-author manuscripts, Albuchuts encourages the use of the CRediT Contributor Roles Taxonomy.

Possible roles include:

Conceptualization; Methodology; Investigation; Formal Analysis; Data Curation; Writing – Original Draft; Writing – Review & Editing; Visualization; Supervision; Project Administration; and Funding Acquisition.

Funding

All sources of research funding must be disclosed.

Where applicable, authors should provide:

• name of the funding organization;
• grant or contract number;
• relevant role of the funder.

Competing Interests

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, personal, or other interest that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research.

Where no competing interests exist, authors may state:

The authors declare that they have no competing interests.

Use of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies

Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies may be used responsibly for supporting activities such as:

• language improvement;
• grammar and spelling correction;
• proofreading;
• translation assistance;
• improvement of readability;
• assistance in organizing or refining text.

AI must not replace the authors’ scholarly judgment, original analysis, interpretation, argumentation, or intellectual contribution.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all submitted content.

Generative AI may not be listed as an author or co-author.

Substantive use of generative AI in manuscript preparation must be disclosed before the References under the heading:

Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Manuscript Preparation Process

Suggested statement:

During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [name of tool/service] for [purpose]. The author(s) subsequently reviewed, verified, and edited the output and take full responsibility for the content of the manuscript.

Routine spelling, grammar, and punctuation checks do not require disclosure.

If AI is used as part of the research method, its use must be described in the Method section.

Data and Supporting Materials

Where relevant, authors are encouraged to provide information about the availability of research data or supporting materials.

Restrictions based on ethics, confidentiality, copyright, privacy, or legal requirements should be stated where appropriate.

Acknowledgements

Individuals or institutions that contributed to the work but do not qualify for authorship may be acknowledged before the References.

Open Access and Publication Fees

All articles are published under immediate open access.

Albuchuts does not charge:

• submission fees;
• article processing charges (APCs);
• publication fees.

Publication costs are fully supported by the Arabic Literature Department, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sebelas Maret.

Copyright and License

Authors retain copyright in their published work and grant Albuchuts the right of first publication.

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

Editorial Authority

Compliance with these guidelines does not guarantee acceptance.

Editors may return or reject manuscripts that fall outside the journal’s scope, fail to meet scholarly or ethical standards, or do not comply with essential submission requirements.
