Forest loss in a tropical country like Indonesia has multifaceted impacts that can indirectly endanger human and national security. This study aims to analyze deforestation as a national security threat and review the current implementation of environmental law regarding deforestation. This research uses a normative legal research type, by placing law as a norm that regulates human behavior in relation to the environment, especially controlling deforestation. The study's results indicate that deforestation is a form of environmental degradation that impacts human and national security. The implementation of environmental law, which is often hampered by technical challenges in the field, is the reason for the suboptimal deforestation control efforts.
