Abstract

The independence of students with disabilities is an important aspect of education that emphasizes empowerment and work readiness. This community service activity aims to improve the vocational skills of students with disabilities through pastry and bakery-making training for teachers and students, integrated into a culinary-based teaching factory model. This activity was held at the West Bandung State Special Needs School in November 2025. The implementation method included technical training, production assistance, and independent business simulations with a participatory and hands-on approach. The teachers and students enthusiastically participated in the activity. The results showed that many teachers assessed that students possessed sufficient basic technical skills in the pastry and bakery fields, had high motivation to learn and work independently, and were enthusiastic about acquiring new knowledge. The teaching factory can be a means to improve the independence and work skills of students with disabilities. This activity makes a real contribution to supporting the economic and social independence of students with disabilities through an applicable vocational education pathway.
