Peer Review Process
The peer review process is a cornerstone of quality assurance in academic publishing. At EVOKASI: Jurnal Kajian Administrasi dan Sosial Terapan, peer review serves to ensure that all published manuscripts meet high academic standards and contribute meaningfully to the field. The entire submission and review process is conducted through the Online Journal System (OJS).
1. Initial Manuscript Evaluation
All submitted manuscripts are first assessed by the Editors. Although rare, exceptionally high-quality manuscripts may be accepted at this stage. However, most submissions are evaluated for:
-
Relevance to the journal's aims and scope,
-
Originality and novelty,
-
Methodological rigor,
-
Scientific soundness,
-
Language quality and clarity of writing.
Manuscripts failing to meet these minimum criteria may be rejected without external review.
2. Type of Peer Review
EVOKASI implements a double-blind peer review process, in which both the identities of authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.
3. Reviewer Selection
Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and relevance to the subject matter of the manuscript. The editorial team maintains and continually updates a reviewer database. Authors may suggest potential reviewers; however, the final selection rests with the Editor and the suggestions are not binding.
4. Reviewer Evaluation Criteria
Reviewers are requested to assess manuscripts based on the following criteria:
-
Originality and contribution to the field,
-
Alignment with the journal’s focus and scope,
-
Theoretical and/or practical significance,
-
Methodological soundness and clarity,
-
Ethical compliance in research practices,
-
Clarity of results and strength of conclusions,
-
Appropriateness and accuracy of references to prior work.
While reviewers are not expected to correct grammatical or language issues, they may suggest improvements where necessary.
5. Duration of the Review Process
The average review process typically takes 2–4 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and responsiveness. In the event of contradictory reviews or delayed responses, the Editor may seek a third opinion or, in rare cases, make a decision based on a single, comprehensive review.
6. Post-Review Procedure
Authors will receive the Editor’s decision along with anonymized reviewer comments. If revisions are requested, the revised manuscript may be sent back to the same reviewers for a second evaluation. Multiple revision rounds may occur before a final decision is reached.
7. Final Decision
The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript lies with the Editor, based on reviewer recommendations and the overall quality of the submission. All editorial decisions are final.
8. Plagiarism Screening
EVOKASI is committed to upholding the integrity and credibility of published research. All manuscripts undergo a plagiarism check using Turnitin. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 30% (excluding references and quotes) will be immediately rejected.
