Publication Ethics Policy

PUBLICATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE STATEMENT
MONTASE is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research in the field of Visual Communication Design (VCD). This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the authors, the editors, the peer reviewers, and the publisher. This statement is based on the guidelines and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
 
A. DUTIES OF EDITORS
  • Publication Decisions: The editor-in-chief is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published based on validation, relevance to visual communication design, and originality.
  • Fair Play: Editors evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
  • Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.
  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.
B. DUTIES OF REVIEWERS
  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.
  • Promptness: Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse themselves from the review process.
  • Confidentiality: Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.
  • Standards of Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments, especially when evaluating visual methodologies or design artifacts.
C. DUTIES OF AUTHORS
  • Reporting Standards: Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance in visual communication design development.
  • Data Access and Retention: Authors may be asked to provide the raw data, visual assets, or design prototypes connection with a paper for editorial review.
  • Originality and Plagiarism: The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.
  • Multiple or Concurrent Publication: An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

PERNYATAAN ETIKA PUBLIKASI DAN MALPRAKTIK
 
MONTASE adalah jurnal ilmiah berbasis peer-review yang berkomitmen untuk menerbitkan artikel berkualitas tinggi di bidang Desain Komunikasi Visual (DKV). Pernyataan ini memperjelas standar perilaku etis bagi semua pihak yang terlibat dalam tindakan penerbitan artikel, termasuk penulis, editor, mitra bestari (reviewer), dan pengelola jurnal. Pernyataan ini dibuat berdasarkan pedoman yang ditetapkan oleh Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
 
A. Tugas dan Tanggung Jawab EDITOR
  • Keputusan Publikasi: Pemimpin redaksi bertanggung jawab untuk memutuskan naskah mana yang layak diterbitkan berdasarkan validitas ilmu, relevansi dengan bidang DKV, serta orisinalitasnya.
  • Keadilan (Fair Play): Editor menilai naskah berdasarkan konten intelektualnya tanpa memandang ras, gender, keyakinan agama, asal etnis, kewarganegaraan, atau filosofi politik penulis.
  • Kerahasiaan: Editor tidak boleh membocorkan informasi apa pun tentang naskah yang masuk kepada siapa pun selain penulis, reviewer, dan tim pengelola.
  • Konflik Kepentingan: Materi yang tidak diterbitkan dalam naskah yang masuk tidak boleh digunakan dalam penelitian pribadi editor tanpa izin tertulis dari penulis.
B. Tugas dan Tanggung Jawab MITRA BESTARI (REVIEWER)
  • Kontribusi pada Keputusan Editor: Telaah sejawat membantu editor dalam membuat keputusan editorial dan membantu penulis dalam meningkatkan kualitas artikelnya.
  • Ketepatan Waktu: Reviewer yang merasa tidak kompeten untuk menelaah naskah terkait atau mengetahui bahwa penelaahan tepat waktu tidak memungkinkan, harus segera memberi tahu editor.
  • Kerahasiaan: Setiap naskah yang diterima untuk ditelaah harus diperlakukan sebagai dokumen rahasia.
  • Standar Objektivitas: Penilaian harus dilakukan secara objektif. Kritik pribadi terhadap penulis tidak diperbolehkan. Reviewer wajib menyampaikan argumentasi ilmiah yang jelas, terutama dalam menilai metodologi visual atau artefak desain.
C. Tugas dan Tanggung Jawab PENULIS
  • Standar Pelaporan: Penulis penelitian asli harus menyajikan laporan yang akurat tentang pekerjaan yang dilakukan serta diskusi objektif tentang signifikansinya dalam perkembangan keilmuan DKV.
  • Akses Data: Penulis mungkin diminta memberikan data mentah, aset visual, atau prototipe desain yang berkaitan dengan artikel untuk keperluan tinjauan editorial.
  • Orisinalitas dan Plagiarisme: Penulis harus memastikan bahwa karya mereka sepenuhnya orisinal. Jika penulis menggunakan karya orang lain, hal tersebut harus dikutip secara tepat.
  • Publikasi Ganda: Penulis tidak boleh menerbitkan naskah yang mendeskripsikan penelitian yang sama di lebih dari satu jurnal secara bersamaan.
  • Pengakuan Sumber: Pengakuan yang tepat atas karya orang lain harus selalu diberikan. Penulis wajib mengutip publikasi yang berpengaruh dalam penelitiannya.
