Surakarta is a city with a lot of cultural heritage, where intercultural interaction has formed social and culinary diversity. Among them are various cultural influences that interact with each other in this city, one of which is that Chinese culture plays an important role especially in the culinary field. Based on the results of observations carried out by the author and his team, the incorporation of Chinese Peranakan culinary in Surakarta is not only an adjustment in terms of food, but also has a significant contribution in producing a distinctive culinary variety, so that it can be enjoyed by all levels of society in Surakarta after various bad problems in the past. The main purpose of this film is to show that Chinese Peranakan culinary plays a role as a means of reconciliation that can bridge the clash in the diversity of Surakarta society through culinary. Thus, the documentary film "Jajak Rasa: Chinese Culinary Acculturation" which discusses the theme of the acculturation of Chinese Peranakan food in Surakarta. By using an approach in the field of gastronomy, this film closely observes and emphasizes how Chinese cuisine can adapt to local ingredients and flavors in Surakarta to give birth to culinary variations (fusion food). In addition, in the production process of this documentary film, the direct cinema method is applied with an ethnographic approach, which aims to be more focused on observing cultural interaction and Chinese culinary interaction naturally and in accordance with the facts in the field. The ethnographic method in this film is applied to explore the meaning and context of social community life in Surakarta related to the culinary culture of Chinese Peranakan through visual display.
