Peer Review Process

International Journal of Critical Sustainability applies a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, integrity, and impartiality of all published manuscripts.

Review Workflow:

  1. Initial Screening
All submitted manuscripts are first reviewed by the editorial team to assess their alignment with the journal’s focus and scope, as well as adherence to basic submission requirements (formatting, language, originality).

  2. Plagiarism Check
Manuscripts passing the initial screening will be subjected to a plagiarism check using appropriate software (e.g., Turnitin). Manuscripts with significant similarity scores may be rejected or returned for revision.

  3. Double-Blind Review
Eligible manuscripts are sent to at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. Both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous to each other to maintain impartiality.

  4. Reviewer Evaluation
Reviewers assess the manuscript based on its originality, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, significance of findings, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Constructive comments and recommendations are provided.

  5. Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editor may decide to:

    • Accept the manuscript as is

    • Request minor or major revisions

    • Reject the manuscript

  6. Revision and Re-review
Authors are given the opportunity to revise their manuscripts according to reviewer comments. Revised manuscripts may be sent back to the original reviewers for re-evaluation.

  7. Final Decision
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision on acceptance based on the reviewers' input and the quality of the revised manuscript.

  8. Proofreading and Publication
Accepted manuscripts undergo professional editing and proofreading before being published online in the journal’s upcoming issue.
