Publication Ethics

Jurnal SALMADIAN is a scientific journal published Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta. This statement outlines the norms of ethical behavior of all parties involved in the process of publishing articles in this journal, including authors, main editors, Editorial Board, peer reviewers, and publishers. These principles refer to the COPE Best Practice Guide for Journal Editors.

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed Jurnal SALMADIAN is a key element in building a structured and valued knowledge network. It reflects a commitment to the quality of the authors' work and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles also reinforce and practice the scientific method. Therefore, it is crucial to establish ethical standards that are upheld by all parties involved in publishing: authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and the public.

Duties of Publisher

Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta, which is responsible as the publisher of Jurnal SALMADIAN, takes seriously the responsibility for all aspects of the publishing process. We prioritize ethical standards and are committed to ensuring that editorial decisions are not influenced by commercial interests such as advertising, reprints, or other sources of income. In addition, we are ready to assist in communicating with other journals and publishers when necessary for the common good.

Publication Decisions

The responsibility of the editors of Jurnal SALMADIAN is to determine which articles are worthy of publication. This decision is based on the validity of the work and its relevance to the research community and readers. Editors adhere to the policies set by the journal's editorial board and are mindful of legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright and plagiarism. To ensure an informed decision, editors may discuss with fellow editors or reviewers before making a final decision.

Fair play

An editor at any time evaluates manuscripts based on their intellectual merit without considering the author's race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political views.

Confidentiality

The editors and any editorial staff are prohibited from providing any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the lead author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisors, and authorized publishers.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript may not be used in the editors' personal research without the written permission of the authors.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribute to Editorial Decisions

Reviews from colleagues help the editor to make decisions about the paper and help the author improve the quality of the paper through good communication between the author and the editor.

Punctuality

Reviewers who have been appointed but feel they do not meet the qualifications to review the submitted paper manuscript or do not immediately review the manuscript must immediately contact the editor and resign to be replaced by another colleague.

Confidentiality

Reviewers and their colleagues must guarantee the confidentiality of submitted paper manuscripts and not discuss them carelessly with other people under any circumstances except with permission from the editor.

Objectivity towards Papers

When reviewing papers, reviewers must do so objectively. Reviewers are not allowed to carry out criticism that contains personal elements during the review process so that the results of the review and criticism must be accompanied by supporting arguments.

Source Acknowledgment

Reviewers must be careful in reviewing submitted papers. If points are found that refer to previous observations in other papers, the reviewer must report them and ask the author to cite them accompanied by a clear source. The reviewer is responsible for reporting to the editor if any overlap is found in the content of the paper with other writings known to the reviewer.

Conflict of Interest

Papers that have special substance or have conflicts of interest related to competitive, collaborative and other matters with the author, company or other agency must be kept confidential. Reviewers and their co-workers are not permitted to use this for personal gain.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Paper writers must ensure that the substance of their writing is the result of accurate research and objective discussion. The data included in the paper must be accountable and use sufficient references. Authors are prohibited from committing unethical actions such as plagiarism and writing inaccurate statements.

Data Access and Retention

Authors are expected to be able to show the raw data used in writing their papers and provide access to this data to the public. This is useful for review purposes. After a paper is published, authors are expected to keep the data for a certain period of time.

Originality and Plagiarism

The author must ensure that the paper submitted is the result of original research or discussion and not a copy of another written work. If the author uses points from other people's work, they must be quoted appropriately with a clear source.

Multiple, Excessive, or Simultaneous Publication

Authors are prohibited from submitting the same article in several main publication places at the same time because this is an unethical action.

Source Acknowledgment

Authors must properly cite other people's work used in their paper. This is a form of appreciation and recognition of other people's work.

Paper Writing

Submitted papers must contain the names of all authors and parties who contributed to the writing, both main authors and contributors. The final result of the paper must be a form of approval from all parties involved before being submitted for publication.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

The author must write clearly if the substance of the paper contains elements of financial conflict of interest or other things that might affect the research results in the paper.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If the author finds errors in the paper in the form of inaccuracies or other things, the author is required to inform the editor or publisher to retract or correct the paper.
