Author Guidelines

1. Manuscript Preparation

1.1. Language and Format

  • Manuscripts must be written in clear and grammatically correct English (UK).
  • Authors are strongly encouraged to proofread their work multiple times and seek feedback from peers or language professionals.
  • Use A4 size (210 x 297 mm), single column, single-spaced, Times New Roman 12 pt.
  • Margins: Top 3 cm, Bottom 2 cm, Left and Right 1.8 cm.
  • File format: Microsoft Word (*.doc, *.docx, or *.rtf).

1.2. Length and Structure

  • Abstract: Maximum 250 words.
  • Research Articles: Up to 8,000 words (including tables and figures).
  • Short Communication: Minimum 2,000 words.
  • Review Articles: Flexible length, approved case-by-case.

1.3. Manuscript Components

  • Title (max. 20 words): Clear, concise, informative.
  • Author(s) Information: Full name, affiliation, email (corresponding author clearly identified).
  • Abstract: Brief background, objective, method, key results, and main conclusion (no references, abbreviations defined when first mentioned).
  • Keywords: 3-5 keywords, arranged alphabetically.
  • Abbreviations: All must be defined upon first use.
  • Sections:
    • Introduction (400-600 words)
    • Related Work (optional)
    • Materials and Methods
    • Results and Discussion (preferably structured in subheadings)
    • Conclusion
    • Acknowledgements (if applicable)
    • References

 2. Figures, Tables, and Equations

  • Figures and tables must be referred to in the text and not exceed three pages collectively.
  • Table titles appear above the tables; figure captions appear below the figures.
  • Only use colour figures if necessary; monochrome is preferred for clarity.
  • All images must be original or sourced appropriately (e.g., Google Earth, Wikipedia).
  • Equations should be numbered consecutively and aligned to the right.

 3. Referencing Style

  • Use APA 7th edition style.
  • Reference management tools like Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote are recommended.
  • In-text citations follow author-year format. E.g., (Smith, 2020), Smith and Doe (2021), or (Lee et al., 2022).
  • References should be listed alphabetically and preferably limited to 20 for research articles.

4. Submission and Review Process

  • Submission is online-only via OJS: https://journal.uns.ac.id/index.php/ijie/submissions
  • Manuscript must be prepared for double-blind peer review. Therefore, authors must:
    • Remove all personal identifiers (names, affiliations, emails) from the manuscript.
    • Ensure that metadata in the file properties do not contain author information.
  • A cover letter must be submitted separately and must include:
    • Article title
    • Full names of all authors, including academic titles (e.g., Dr., Prof.)
    • Institutional affiliations (using official Indonesian names for local universities)
    • Detailed email address of the corresponding author
    • Brief novelty statement
    • Five suggested reviewers (with complete contact details)
  • All manuscripts will undergo double-blind peer review.
  • Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author for final correction within 7 days.

5. Ethical Considerations

  • Manuscripts must be original and not under review elsewhere.
  • Authors must disclose any conflict of interest.
  • All authors must have made significant contributions to the manuscript.
  • Proper credit must be given for funding and technical assistance.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.

  3. Ensure all organization IDs and names have been removed from the paper's title and text to ensure anonymity during the peer review process. 
    The title sheet containing the author's details should be submitted separately as a supplementary file. 

  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 10-point Arial font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal. Link to IJIE Paper Template is available in this link

  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  7. Indonesian Journal of Informatics Education (IJIE) requires authors to ensure that no more than 12% of the text in submitted manuscripts is generated using artificial intelligence (AI) tools. Authors are fully responsible for verifying and disclosing the use of any AI-assisted tools in their research and writing process.
