Deaf students are included in the category of children with special needs. The term "deaf" generally refers to individuals who have a hearing impairment or limitation. Hearing impairments in deaf students also impact their social interactions. Social interaction occurs with two conditions: communication and social contact. Without both, social interaction cannot happen. In this case, deaf students experience barriers to intense communication. These communication barriers will certainly impact their social lives. Therefore, it is necessary to familiarize deaf students with oral communication so that they and their conversation partners can understand each other. If a deaf student's oral communication is good, their social interactions will also improve. However, if a deaf student's oral communication is poor, their social interactions will also be poor. This study aims to determine the relationship between oral communication and social interaction of deaf students in SLB B Pawestri Karanganyar. This study is a quantitative correlational study. The subjects of this study were 32 deaf students from junior high school to high school. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling with purposive sampling. The data collection technique in this study used two instruments consisting of a performance test for the oral communication instrument and a Likert scale for the social interaction instrument. The oral communication performance test has aspects of vocabulary, speed of speech, intonation, brevity, and timing. The oral communication test has 4 items. The social interaction scale has 30 items. The validity test of the instrument uses CVR. The results of the validity test obtained 4 valid items for the oral communication test and 17 valid items for the social interaction scale. The reliability test of the oral communication test used ICC with a value of 0.950 in the very good category. While the reliability test of the social interaction scale used Cronbach Alpha with a correlation coefficient of 0.733 in the strong category. The results of the study that have been analyzed using the Pearson product moment correlation test obtained a calculated r value of 0.623 with a significance level of p (0.000) <p (0.05), so the Ho hypothesis is rejected and the Ha hypothesis is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between oral communication and social interaction of deaf students.
