AI Use Policy
Guidance for Authors
1.1 Use of Assistive AI Tools
Authors may use assistive AI tools that improve language clarity, grammar, readability, formatting, or structure. Disclosure of these tools is not required. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the content they submit.
Examples of assistive tools include spelling checkers, grammar correction systems, or AI-assisted proofreading tools.
1.2 Use of Generative AI
Use of AI tools capable of generating original content, including text, images, code, or references, must be disclosed at the time of submission. Such disclosure allows the editorial team to assess how AI contributed to the manuscript.
AI tools cannot be cited as primary sources. If AI-generated text or media was used, authors must verify all content and ensure originality, accuracy, and alignment with ethical and scholarly standards.
Authors should follow these requirements:
- Specify which AI model or tool was used and describe how it assisted the manuscript, preferably in the methods section or acknowledgments.
- Verify and correct all generated statements, facts, interpretations, and references.
- Check for plagiarism risks, as generative models may replicate existing phrasing from unknown sources.
- Ensure no fabricated or hallucinated information remains, including inaccurate claims or non-existent citations.
- Do not list AI tools, including platforms such as ChatGPT or similar systems, as co-authors.
Failure to disclose generative AI use, or submission of content relying excessively on AI-generated material without verification, may result in rejection during any stage of editorial or peer review.
Guidance for Reviewers and Editors
Use of AI during editorial and review processes requires additional caution due to confidentiality, copyright considerations, and risk of content reuse by external systems.
2.1 Assistive Use
Reviewers may use assistive AI tools solely for improving clarity or language quality in their review reports. They remain responsible for the accuracy, tone, and integrity of all comments submitted.
Editors may use AI tools to support administrative processes, such as searching for potential reviewers, provided confidentiality is preserved.
2.2 Prohibited Uses
The following activities are not permitted:
- Generating review reports using AI tools.
- Using AI to summarize confidential manuscript content.
- Using AI to draft decision letters or editorial assessments.
- Uploading unpublished manuscript content into AI platforms that may learn from or reuse the data.
If suspected misuse occurs, reports should be communicated confidentially to the editorial team for further review.
Undisclosed or Inappropriate Use of Generative AI
Undisclosed or unethical use of AI may be investigated. Depending on severity, possible actions include revision request, rejection, or post-publication corrective action. Published submissions found to contain undisclosed generative content or fabricated, plagiarized, or inaccurate material may be subject to correction or retraction.
Accountability Statement
Human authors, not AI, are responsible for the integrity and reliability of scholarly work. AI cannot assume authorship or responsibility, and its use must remain transparent, ethical, and aligned with accepted academic publishing practices.
