PERAN PENULIS NASKAH DAN RISET DALAM PEMBUATAN FILM DOKUMENTER JATHIL: LAKUNING PANGREKSA

Abstract

Film is a visual work presented through a series of images and shown on a big  screen. One type of film is a documentary, which is the subject of this work entitled  “Jathil: Lakuning Pangreksa.” This film explores the cultural transformation and  identity of the Jathil character within the Reyog Ponorogo. The documentary was  chosen with the aim of serving as an educational and reflective medium on the  existence of Jathil, which adapts to the changes of the times.  

This report describes and documents the process of creating the documentary film,  from pre-production, production, to post-production. The screenwriter plays a  central role throughout the entire process. The research process was conducted  through secondary and primary research. The writer developed a treatment,  storyline, and interview guide to ensure that all data obtained was valid and  contextual, enabling it to be developed into the structure and narrative of the  documentary.  

The report’s findings indicate that the screenwriter and researcher played a crucial  role in the documentary filmmaking process by creating a narrative and storyline  aligned with on-the-ground facts. The screenwriter and researcher also play a role  in bridging data and on-site realities through a cinematic visual approach. This  dual role enables the film to become more than just a medium for conveying  information but also to raise public awareness regarding the preservation of local  arts.
